Marketing Officer

Role Purpose:
To support the British Council’s Exams marketing activity, focussed on either our IELTS or assessment and English Exams portfolio of products (dependant on role). This role will work within the global Exams team, and specifically the wider Exams Marketing team, providing support on areas such as resource development, website management, competitor and business analysis and other ad-hoc support.
Main Accountabilities:
Subject/Sector Expertise:
Ensure that Exams/IELTS information and branding on our own and partners’ websites are consistent globally.
Develop marketing resources to support the relevant Exams product portfolio as directed by the Head of Marketing, IELTS or Head of Exams Marketing – Assessment and Exams Services.
Develop relationships and maintain with agencies, suppliers, designers, producers and publications to ensure that promotional materials are of a high standard and good value.
Carry out project work linked to the relevant product portfolio as assigned efficiently, on budget and to deadline.
Where needed, consult with partners and external stakeholders during projects.
Product/Programme/Service delivery
Provide administrative support to the Exams Marketing team including event management, communications and PR.
Cover team members duties as allocated when they are on leave.
Commercial & resource management
Manage purchase orders and spreadsheets for the relevant area, processing invoices for the IELTS / Exams Marketing team.
Resolve issues and queries relating to these invoices in coordination with the Finance department.
Ensure budgets are managed to target and are reported monthly along with high quality comments/explanations provided.
Ensure that budgets are managed in accordance with Essential Finance and FABS guidelines and Purchase Orders are raised accurately within the specified timeline.
Assist with POs and other Finance queries which need deeper investigation.
Relationship and Stakeholder Management
Act as a brand ambassador, helping to deliver a strong British Council brand through all Exams marketing.
Actively participate in the Marketing Community of Practice, sharing knowledge, resources and best practice.
Develops peer/personal networks within and outside Marketing to enhance own knowledge and expertise.
About You (essential requirements for the role):
Relevant Bachelor’s degree e.g. marketing, or equivalent level of experience
Language requirements: B1 written and spoken English
Experience in B2B Marketing
Experience with Content management systems, such as Drupal or Sitecore
Google Analytics / Excel
